Geeta Ashrams

Geeta Ashram – Mathura

The Geeta Ashram, Delhi formed in 1950, now has several branches that have developed into centers of service to society. Swamiji’s aim was to energise society through spiritual awakening and nurturing human values. He was committed to extending social welfare through educational institutions, yoga training centres and home for the destitute. Every institution established by Gurudev is secular in its functioning. The management of the ashrams is undertaken by devotees from various religions – Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, etc. in a very devotional way.

The function of every Geeta Ashram is to work for the welfare of humanity and spread the message of universal brotherhood. Ashrams all over the world, propagating this message, play an important role in achieving Swamiji’s dream – to bring peace in the world. Keeping in mind these principles, Swami Ji, in 1975, initiated the move to organize annual International Geeta conferences in different parts of the world. The main objectives of the conference are as follows –

  1. To promote universal brotherhood and peace through the Bhagwad Geeta’s teachings, and
  2. To organize spiritual and cultural events in different countries, overriding the reservations of caste, creed, religion & practices.

At these conferences, society benefits from the views put forth by social leaders, saints, scholars of different religions and sects, justices and civil servants and so on. Swamiji himself presided over 13 conferences., till the year 2000. Ever since, these conferences are held at Geeta Dham every year during Gurudev’s Birthday celebrations on the festival of Holi. In 2020, it will be the 33rd conference on Gurudev’s 122nd birthday.
